How To

How to hunt wild hogs

Wild hogs are large animals found in North America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Wild hogs feed on vegetation and small animals such a rabbits or mice, birds, insects, and fish. They usually eat at night. The gestation period is approximately six months. One piglet then emerges. A sow gives birth every two years. Wild hogs can be solitary, but they may live in herds.

The average weight of a wild boar is 200 pounds (90 kg). Their head length averages from 10 to 12 inches (25-30 cm), while their body length ranges from 20 to 30 inches (50-75 cm). Wild pigs are long-legged, have broad shoulders and short tails. A thick layer of fat is found under their skin.

They are very sensitive to smell, hearing, sight, and touch. They use their senses to identify danger and find food. They can run upto 35 MPH (56 Km/h) and jump upto 15 Ft (4 m). They are sharp-toothed and have sharp claws. They are aggressive when protecting themselves against predators.

Hunting wild hogs is hard because they are intelligent, fast, and elusive. Hunters must stalk them carefully. The animal could escape if hunters are too quick to shoot. Hunting too early can cause the animal to escape.

There are many different hunting methods that can be used to kill wild boars. The most commonly used method is shooting. This requires hunters hunting to find the animal, then waiting until it comes within range. Another method is trapping. Trapping is the practice of placing traps in areas where the hogs are likely to drink. Some traps contain a smell lure, such a corn meal with peanut butter. Once the trap is released, the hunter will shoot the trapped pig.

Snaring, another method, is also an option. Snaring is a method that uses a noose of rope to catch the pork. It works best if the pig is caught during its mating season.

Other methods include poisoning, spearing and netting. Netting and spearing are methods of stopping pigs' breathing by placing a net around the neck or spearing them. Poisoning refers to injecting poison in the pig's neck.

Hunters who want to hunt wild hogs must be ready for cold temperatures. Hunting in colder areas may require the use of snowshoes. To help track animals, some hunters have dogs.
