A mentored hunting license is a type of firearm permit that enables someone to hunt for a fee with the guidance of a more experienced hunting companion. In addition to a Wisconsin hunting license, a mentored hunter must possess a valid Wisconsin handgun license and must remain within arm's length of their protege. Mentored hunters must adhere to all Wisconsin hunting laws. A handgun cannot be used for hunting by anyone under the age 18.

Mentor hunters must accompany their protégés on hunting trips. A mentor must not only be an example but also know the law governing hunting.
